Course Positioning: This course aims to cultivate students' ability to systematically analyze the evolution and impacts of different urban regeneration projects across multiple dimensions, including the physical environment, economic development, and social space, from a comparative research perspective. The course emphasizes the integration of theory and practice, establishing an interdisciplinary approach to urban studies, and laying the foundation for further in-depth research on mega-urban regeneration governance.
Main Content: This course will provide a comprehensive introduction to the core concepts and cutting-edge issues of mega-urban regeneration projects. The theoretical and empirical studies covered include: urban regeneration as a national development strategy, financial centers, the phenomenon of urban (post-)suburbanization, real estate-led urban redevelopment, housing financialization, governance models, and their interactions with urban transformation. The course content will combine domestic and international typical cases to strengthen students' understanding of the multi-dimensional impacts of mega-urban regeneration projects.
